Phoenix Jacket
My work, Viking Sewing Gallery, was having a contest to make something with their new software. This was January of 2021 when we were very hopeful about the new year after 2020. Phoenixes rise from ashes, from this pause of nothing and the beginning of 2021 really felt like that. Click on each image for more info.

The phoenix itself I digitized by layering feathered satin stitches over and over one another. The wings and body were separate to maximize the amount of detail I could create. The contest required using a couple of modules and the two I chose were a font and spiral design wizard, which became the eye. I originally planned a longer phrase but realized just one word would say all I needed: Rise.

I also went with a cool denim jacket. I am a sucker for really cool outerwear! And this particular jacket I made so I had the opportunity to make it lined, AND interlined with fleece!! Extra warm!
